New Wiggins Type Gasholder on Coke Oven GasClayton Walker gas holders
Taichung Steel Works, Taiwan

Clayton Walker Gasholders supplied the engineering design, drawings and documents, strategic components and full-time fabrication and construction technicians for a new 30,000 square metres gasholder, the first of its kind fitted with a synthetic rubber seal specially developed for coke oven gas. Space restrictions made a standard Wiggins Type with shell diameter equal to shell height impractical but client capacity requirements were fulfilled by a space-saving 1:1.6 ratio design.

M.A.N. Gasholder on Blast Furnace Gas Repair
Cubat, Brazil

A plant-wide blackout led to the catastrophic failure of the gasholder seal when the piston descended rapidly, seriously damaging the shell structure and crashing into the gasholder floor. In response, Clayton Walker Gasholders provided the client with fabrication and construction drawings for the replacement piston and repairs, new seal and full-time technicians to oversee, test and commission this major repair project.

Klonne to Wiggins Type on Coke Oven Gas Conversion
Rourkela Steel Plant, India

Clayton Walker Gasholders demonstrated world-leading expertise in converting a defunct Klonne gasholder into a fully functioning Wiggins Type gasholder. This project involved the removal and replacement of the existing piston, modification work to the foundation and shell together with the installation of associated ancillaries and was Clayton Walker Gasholder's eighth successful conversion using this technology.

Water-Sealed Gasholder on Steel-Making Gas Revamp
Dunkerque, France

The original buoyancy tanks fitted to maintain operating pressure for the system's low pressure gas recovery system had their integrity breached several times and lost their effectiveness. Clayton Walker Gasholders presented the client with a radical modification to achieve the desired operating pressure and eliminate the buoyancy tanks with an externally-fitted counterweight system that, unlike the tanks, would allow monitoring and maintenance during operation.
